The Geometric Dome Climber Play Center from Lifetime delivers long lasting fun and entertainment for up to 6 climbers from ages 3 to 12 years old. Perhaps one of the most, versatile and captivating pieces of play equipment available, the geometric dome provides exciting, imaginative, and challenging play for young people that helps them develop strength, coordination, spatial awareness, and balance while they have fun. The five-foot tall, 10-foot diameter dome structure provides the multiple purposes of a physical challenge, a playhouse, and as a platform for multi-sensory imaginative play for children from the age of 3 and up.

Constructed of heavy-duty, weather and rust-resistant powder coated steel that does not retain heat, the Lifetime Dome climber is built to last. Each steel section has a 1.5-inch diameter ideal for gripping and is 33 inches long. Real rock climbing hand-grips of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) connect the steel poles, providing comfortable accessibility for children. The Lifetime Geometric Dome Climber has a 10-foot diameter and measures 5 feet tall, high enough for fun and challenge, but low enough to reduce the risk of serious injury. It is recommended to construct your dome climber with a 6-foot radius of clear space around it and to cover the ground below the dome climber with mulch (see depth recommendations below). The dome climber is backed by a limited 1-year warranty.

Customer Reviews

This dome is awesome! Very sturdy. My four kids climb all over this thing and it never moves. It is well made and fairly simple to assemble. My husband and I put it together in an afternoon. Definetly took us a few hours. It is heavy but we are able to move it when we mow the lawn. I also have a shed by Lifetime and see the same quality they always deliver. Great item!

I am a bit premature in starting this review, as this is a Christmas present for my 2.5 year old. We have plenty of swings, slides, and sandboxes in the neighborhood parks so I was looking for something different. I was hoping to find a jungle gym like I had as a kid (we could construct different shapes for some variety), but that thing was kind of a death trap so I'm not surprised it is off the market. After quite a bit of searching, I realized that the dome style seems to be what you get nowadays. This one is larger and heavier than the other Amazon alternative (and the rusty old thing I mentioned above). I'm sure it will provide hours of fun, and maybe I won't be the one getting climbed all over for once =)

I haven't assembled it but have inspected the box and counted all of the parts. All parts listed in the manual are accounted for (don't want a Christmas eve panic!) Let me first say that this thing is extremely heavy! UPS put a sticker indicating that it was over 70 lbs, and it is probably close to 100 lbs. It was double boxed and shipped 2-day for free thanks to Amazon prime! Despite some damage to the outer box (expected at this weight), the inner box was in good shape and all of the parts appeared undamaged. I can already tell that this thing is going to be solid once assembled. The bars are wrapped in plastic and labeled, made of heavy steel, and have solid forged ends. Looks like a nice, heavy duty paint that will hopefully hold up well in the elements. The plastic climbing wall-style 'grips' for each junction are nothing fancy, but should add to the fun. With all parts accounted for, all I can do is wait until Christmas but I'm dying to put it together for my little monkey...

The manual has a handy chart that includes the likelihood of getting a head injury with different ground coverings of various depths (mulch, shredded tires, bark, sand, etc.). Should be good ammo for the lawyers when someone hops our fence and gets hurt, so I feel obligated to at least follow their recommendation of 6" of bark mulch under and around the climber. Well that's all I have for now, will update after Christmas when I have a chance to assemble and play with it.

UPDATE

Spent a couple of weekends laying down the foundation for the dome...pulled up the weeds (the area wasn't sodded) and installed a weed barrier and border on the first weekend, then 5.5 yards of playground wood chips on the second. It was a lot of work but made for a very nice play area, about 20x20ft.

Got this assembled Christmas eve, and I will say that it is definitely a solid jungle gym! It took around 2 hours for me to put together, with occasional help from my wife (sometimes you will need an extra pair of hands). All of the parts were there, and things fit together as they should. One note on assembly, the instructions include an illustration showing the order to put the bars onto each bolt. I wasn't paying attention to this at first but probably should have been. It will go together fine either way but I in hindsight I wish I would have seen this detail earlier.

My son was very excited to see this on Christmas morning! We covered it up with blankets and put a big bow up top. Just to give some perspective, 2 king size sheets covered about half of it...

It is actually a bit large for my son who is 2 and 9 months or so and tall for his age. Once the weather warms up I may bury the base a few inches in the mulch to lower it down. The problem is that the lowest horizontal bars are too high for him to use as a step. I know it will be hit in the coming years but it is still a bit large for now. That being said, I think some practice time will have him all over it like a little monkey by the end of the summer.

I can't say how solid this thing is! It is built like a tank to hold up to years of play...I love the way it looks in the backyard, just makes me wish spring was here even more! Well worth the price!

UPDATE My son is now a couple months over 3, and loves playing on the jungle gym. He can climb to the top, then drop down in the middle and swing by his arms. This seems to help build up his strength, coordination, and courage. He loves showing me new tricks that he learns during the day, like climbing up and going all the way around the dome.
